Poetic Synthesis

at Trinity Arts Festival

Exploration into electronic music using analogue/semi modular hardware and software. Dublin Modular hosted a workshop in electronic music, informing people about general musical knowledge/difference between electronic hardware and software with demonstrations on how to incorporate them into musical pieces/projects. Getting the audience involved in something physical, where they were creating music and being introduced to music in an interactive way. Also we set up equipment in a way where attendees could digitally record their sounds and then we send it to them after the event via google drive. Giving them something to take away and remember from the workshop.

Finished with a performance of the piece "Poetic Synthesis" by Gabrielė Dikčiūtė and Tadhg Kinsella. Experimenting with poetry and live electronic music; inspired by Jonas Mekas (Lithuanian born) for his dedication to avant-garde art and involvement with the fluxus movement. Not only a poet Jonas was also a filmmaker and artist.

Throughout this piece they read (in English and Lithuanian) and perform poetry from Jonas Mekas. Manipulating the timbre, vibrations and melodies of their voice's via audio effects and electronic modular synthesizers.
